Mount Asahidake is one of the most popular excursion destinations in Hokkaido, as the cable car at the foot of the volcano (summit altitude 1600 m) offers easy access to terrain above the tree line and the mountain itself is the highest in Hokkaido at 2290 m. Short ascents along the ridges are often necessary. You even have the option of circling the volcano. Chutes, alpine slopes, tree skiing and pillow lines with great deep snow await you. Once at the bottom, all paths lead to the cable car. A visit to the onsen at the foot of the mountain is a must after skiing!
